Mark W. Nichols - Principal
Mark is a licensed independent financial advisor and CPA who has an extensive work and educational background. He has more than twelve years managing Mark W. Nichols, CPA, PC, a public accounting firm, and over eight years of combined experience in accounting/auditing and taxation with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, the largest accounting firm in the US. He was also a member of the adjunct faculty at Lesley University’s School of Management in Cambridge, where he taught graduate students finance and accounting.
Mark completed the FINRA Series 6, 63, 65 and 66 exams as well as the Massachusetts state Life, Accident and Health exam. In addition, he holds a Masters of Science in Taxation degree, with Distinction (1998) and a Masters in Business Administration degree (1992), both from Bentley University. Furthermore, Mark was appointed to Chairman of the Federal Taxation Committee at the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) in May 2012. This committee is charged with developing competence and disseminating quality information to members in the area of federal taxation and cooperating with other organizations, including the IRS, in exchanging ideas and making recommendations for improving the taxing process in the public interest. Mark is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
In addition to his professional experience, he also has a strong commitment to teaching and community service. He was appointed to and served on the Finance Committee for the Town of North Andover for four years. This committee was charged with evaluating every article in the Town Warrant that had a financial component and developing a recommendation to be considered at Town Meeting. While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, he was continuously sought after to teach national training courses. In June 1999, he was appointed to the TLS (Tax Line of Service) Learning Board, which was charged with developing the tax training strategy for the America’s theatre. In July 1999, he was appointed to the MMAS (Middle Market Advisory Service) Learning Committee, which was charged with providing guidance on the national training strategy of the MMAS group.
Mark is a strong believer in family and approaches both his professional and personal lives with equal enthusiasm. He and his wife are the proud parents of three beautiful children, and spend many busy weekends attending soccer games, skiing, and taking trips to Lake Winnipesaukee.
CREDENTIALS: Mark W. Nichols, CPA, MST, MBA
Mark has just been appointed by the Pike School, Inc in Andover, MA to serve on its Board of Trustees for a four-year term beginning in July 2014. The responsibility of the Board of Trustees of is to be aware, to the fullest extent possible, of all matters that pertain to the philosophy and goals of The Pike School and to assure that decisions of the Board conform to these stated objectives.
Mark was recently appointed by the Massachusett Society of Certifed Public Accountants to serve on its Board of Directors for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. He was sworn in at the MSCPA's annual Meeting and Recogniziton Reception in May 2014.
Mark also contiues to serve on The Finance Committee of The Pike School in Andover, MA, which he was appointed to in 2013.
Senior Manager - Michele Ohlson, CPA
Michele is a certified public accountant who has over fifteen years of combined public and private accounting experience. Currently she supervises the preparation of financial statements (through our affiliate Mark W Nichols CPA PC) and tax returns for our business clients. She is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor™ who has performed customized installations and training for numerous clients on QuickBooks – Basic, Premier, Enterprise and Point of Sale. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a controller for a medical practice where she developed accounting systems, performed bookkeeping functions, and prepared and analyzed financial statements using Peachtree. In addition, she worked at a public accounting firm where she performed audits, reviews and compilations and prepared full disclosure GAAP financial statements for a variety of large and small businesses.
Senior Manager - Leslie Riley, CPA
Leslie is a certified public accountant who has over fourteen years of combined public and private accounting experience. She is presently the manager of tax preparation and planning for our individual and ex-patriot clients. She is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor™ and works with many of our business clients on tax strategies, financial reporting and QuickBooks setup. She is a former bank examiner and member of the internal audit staff with a Boston bank. Leslie holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA).
Senior Manager - Michelle Tetreault, CPA
Michelle is a CPA with twenty-plus years of accounting, tax and managerial experience in public practice where she has provided compilation and review, tax preparation, research and planning services to individual, small business and not-for-profit clientele; and outsourced accounting, management and bookkeeping solutions to both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
She began her public accounting career in the audit department of a large regional firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts and then joined the tax department in the Boston office of the then tenth largest international accounting firm prior to opening her North Andover office where she has practiced for over ten years.
She is an alumnus of Boston College Carroll School of Management with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and attended the Bentley College Master of Science Program in Taxation.
Michelle is affiliated with the Massachusetts Society of CPAs; past Treasurer, Quota International of Andover; Past President, Treasurer, Northeast Regional Director of the American Woman's Society of CPAs; Past Executive Treasurer of The Peaked Hill Trust Board of Directors; Trustee, Brookmeadow Office Park Condominium Association.
She is the proud mother of a son attending college in New York City. In her free time she enjoys running, working out at the gym and visiting her son in Manhattan.
Manager - Shaun O'Rorke
Shaun is a CPA candidate with a Master’s Degree in accounting and over eight years of public accounting experience serving closely held businesses and their owners. He has extensive experience providing a variety of tax, accounting, and financial reporting services to clients in a diverse range of industries such as professional services, medical and dental practices, commercial real estate, residential construction, online businesses, transportation, retail stores, gas stations, and towing companies. He also has a long history of helping business owners and high net-worth individuals create and execute tax-savings strategies. Shaun also has IRS representation experience and enjoys educating clients on the complexities of tax law.
A graduate of Merrimack College, Shaun began his career as a tax accountant and quickly progressed to conducting audits of manufacturing corporations, non-profit entities and various unions. He is an expert at QuickBooks helping businesses setup and maintain QuickBooks, giving business owners confidence that their accounting information clearly reports their activity in an easy to read format.
Shaun is also a marathoner who enjoys spending time with his loving wife and two young boys and making improvements on his home. He also likes to volunteer his time at local civic organizations and church.
Senior Associate - Elisa DiTrapano
Elisa is a tax and bookkeeping accountant who has more than fifteen years of experience working in both public and private industry. Prior to joining us, Elisa worked at a large regional CPA firm where she focused primarily on assisting families with personal financial matters, including tax planning, tax preparation and overall financial planning. While in industry, she performed many financial accounting & forecasting tasks, such as world-wide cash flow projections, month-end close, fixed asset tracking and reporting. She is currently in charge of preparing individual and business tax returns and is experienced at finding deductions to ensure nothing is missed. She is also in charge of performing all bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks for our business clients to ensure timely and understandable financial reports are presented to the business owners.
Elisa achieved a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accountancy with a concentration in Management from Bentley University .
In addition, Elisa is an active community partner in all activities for 2 wonderful children.
Associate - Danae Silver
Danae joined the firm in 2014 after completing her Bachelors of Business Administration – Accounting degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. During her studies she worked as an intern at a regional CPA firm in the greater Boston area where she worked to help individuals and small businesses with their accounting and tax needs.
Prior to joining the firm she worked for seven years as an accounting manager where she maintained all the bookkeeping records for two different companies using a multitude of QuickBooks platforms.
Danae will use her extensive experience with QuickBooks to help our small business clients with all of their QuickBooks setup and accounting needs. She will also work in preparing tax returns for our individual and small business clients.
Danae is currently pursuing her Master’s of Science in Accounting and looks forward to becoming certified as a public accountant. She also holds student memberships to the Massachusetts Society of Public Accountants (MSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Danae is the mother of a beautiful boy and is very close to her younger siblings and other family members. When she is not in the office or at school, she enjoys cooking, playing board games with her family and going to the beach in the summer.
Client Relations Manager & Office Manager - Lisa Cunnane
Lisa joined the firm in 2007 and has many years of experience in an administrative role. At present, she manages all client transitions to our wealth management firm, Landmark Financial Services Group, LLC and the internal operations of both firms. She is responsible for ensuring that all of our clients receive levels of service that exceed expectations.
She began her career working at Prudential Insurance, where she held positions that provided a perfect backdrop to her job with us. She worked in roles such as a client relations manager within the Group Insurance Division at Prudential and as an administrative assistant to the manger of the Dental Division and the Human Resource Director. She continued her career at Workscape Incorporated where she started as an administrative assistant for the Director of Implementation and was subsequently promoted to Quality Assurance Engineer. Lisa holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College, and is a Notary Public.
Lisa is married with two great children. She enjoys vacationing with her family in the White Mountains and taking her kids to amusement parks.
Client Relations Associate & Receptionist - Rachelle Garrison
Rachelle joined the team in 2010. She enjoys working in challenging environments and has always enjoyed working directly with people. Immediately prior to her position with the firm, she worked as a service coordinator for a material handling company, which required her to manage and track technicians in the field while ensuring 100% customer satisfaction. Prior to this position, she spent 4 years working alongside physicians and nurses in emergency centers as a trauma technician, which required her to think and act quickly in a emergency settings. Rachelle began her career in the Navy where she spent three years as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd class where she managed medical office duties and assisted in mobilization readiness of Naval Reserve personnel.
